Private lessons for any level are available. Time slot must be arranged with Coach Daniel with payment to North Jersey Rowing.

Individuals wishing to row a single are encouraged to schedule some private lessons, as the single is technically  most challenging.

Junior Summer Competitive Program

For any rower with previous rowing experience (rowers have completed Learn to Row and have raced in the Spring or want to pursue the sport competitively as novices during the summer.) Rowers will be evaluated and placed in appropriate development level, from novice to the more experienced.

The purpose of the summer competitive program is to build endurance and log in the miles needed to compete. Coaching will focus on technique and skill development, proper use and care of equipment, personal training and drills for efficient performance and competitive strategies. Rowers will be challenged to row in any combination of boating lineups…and will row to have fun competing and learning the sport.

Emphasis is on sculling and some sweep. Limited spots per session in singles, doubles, quads, and fours.

The summer program starts  June 2nd,  three times per week, while most schools are in session.  Beginning June 30th practices are four times per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday except when regattas take place. Fridays are open for makeups due to inclement weather, optional practices as determined by the coach.

There will be two tiers of competitive Juniors, basically a morning program and an afternoon program, creating a competitive pool of 35 – 40 rowers.  Both sessions are the same, open to girls and boys.  Participants are expected to come to every practice. In rowing it is important to give advance notice of any absence as an empty seat greatly affects your team mates. Notice must be given to the coach if you will miss a session. We understand there is life after rowing and family and personal obligations sometimes do conflict.  If you know you will not be available for a race or a practice session due to vacation plans or other commitments, please let us know well in advance so we can plan accordingly. This is common rowing courtesy for your teammates.

Those rowers who wish to compete at any one regatta will vie for select seats. Entries to the regattas will be determined by the skill set of the rowers. The coach will set forth boat lineups based on a competitive selection criteria and level of rower. We want to send out competent crews. Both morning and afternoon sessions will vie for seats for each regatta.

Regattas

You are responsible for transportation and/or lodging at your regattas.  Those who secure a seat in a boat at a regatta will be assessed a portion of the entry fee and gas for transporting the shell.  This makes it equitable for all rowers.

Summer Junior Competitive Schedule

With a two tiered structure we are able to train and develop a pool of 35 – 40 boys and girls from freshmen through seniors. There will be two time slots offered in June while school remains in session and in July. You can choose your best time slot.
