Laurie Howard comes to rowing as a rowing mom who volunteered with her daughter to spearhead a high school level team. Howard initiated and set up Ridgewood Rowing to compete on the high school level. Since leaving that directorship, she has been involved in many different areas of the sport: organizing and recruiting rowers as former rowing officer of the Nereid Boat Club; volunteering and traveling to many local, national and international level regattas; and understanding the college recruitment process. Previously Howard was a marketing and public relations executive in the publishing industry. During her successful career in the corporate world, she was responsible for planning and execution of large scale events, and directing business staffs, communication and marketing campaigns. She brings this skill set to her volunteer work for Girls Scouts and other volunteer organizations.
